Description

Rendez-Vous looks and lives like a boutique hotel, boasting sleek furniture, stylish textiles, and chic design. Modern digital devices in the spacious salon and smartly appointed cabins further the fresh approach to canal cruising. While not lazing in the hot tub, relaxing on the expansive deck, or joining their Chef in the open kitchen for informal cooking demonstrations, active guests can take bicycle rides or leisurely walks along the towpath.

Dining and drinking is a foodie’s delight, as the cuisine combines traditional ingredients with contemporary cooking techniques, while the hand selected wine pairings emphasize the region’s world-famous Cote d’Or vintages. Guests are further introduced to the region through excursions to private vineyards, charming towns, and preserved chateaux. A gregarious and charismatic crew add further to the time spent together aboard the Rendez-Vous

Sunday

Arrival at Fleurey- sur- Ouche
In the afternoon, you will be met by a crew member of the Rendez-Vous at the designated meeting point. From here, relax as you are chauffeured to Rendez-Vous, moored in the village of Fleurey-sur-Ouche. A traditional champagne welcome and introduction to the crew awaits you, before your first gourmet dinner on-board.

Monday

Fleurey- sur- Ouche to Gissey- sur- Ouche
The journey begins with a morning cruise. Laze on deck in the hot tub or explore the countryside via bicycle. This morning, the town of Dijon offers a pleasurable assault of the senses. Preserved palaces and beautiful churches vie for attention with specialty boutiques, small cafes, and serene gardens. Shop, stroll, and sip your way through this small city brimming with authentic French life. Return to the barge for a lazy afternoon cruise. Cocktails and canapes are served onboard as Chef prepares tonight's dinner.

Tuesday

Gissey- sur- Ouche to La Bussiere- sur- Ouche
In the morning, your Tour Guide accompanies you to Clos de Vougeot, where Cistercian monks made wine in the 12th century. Explore the ancient presses on which these iconic Burgundian vintages were once made. Return to the barge for a lazy afternoon cruise. Relax with a glass of locally-produced wine on the deck, visit your Captain in his wheelhouse, or explore the towpath with a leisurely stroll. Enjoy appetizers and aperitifs onboard while Chef put the final touches on tonight’s gourmet dinner.

Wednesday

La Bussiere to Pont d'Ouche
Relax on the deck with a freshly brewed cup of coffee during today's morning cruise. This afternoon, your Tour Guide escorts you to Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, a village perched atop a hill overlooking the Canal. Chateauneuf's imposing position refers to its history as a 15th century fortress. A tour of the Chateau reveals architectural details and timeworn relics which speak to the deprivations and decadence so prevalent in France’s history. Tonight’s dinner is taken ashore at a fine dining venue, the Chateau de Sainte Sabine. Feast on traditional French gastronomy with a contemporary approach. Bon Appetit!

Thursday

Pont d'Ouche to Vandenesse-en-Auxois
Begin the day with a morning cruise. Laze on deck to admire the scenery slipping by, or join Chef in the open kitchen for an informal cooking demonstration. In the afternoon, a drive through the Cote d’Or vineyards culminates in the charming town of Beaune, the region's wine capital. A guided visit to the Hospice de Beaune reveals an immaculately preserved Medieval hospital built in the 15th century. Your Tour Guide returns you to the barge for an enchanted evening of drinks and dinner.
